What a Famous Fashion Designer and Wedding Crashing Have in Common

has been with us since

Saturday, Alexander Wang was making an appearance at Barney’s in Chicago, and the attendance of Carina, Sam, and I was not optional.  We woke up late and wound up having to speed get ready to head over there.  Once we arrived at Barney’s and headed up to the first floor we saw Alexander Wang and I was immediately filled with excitement because he is a genius.  Noticing others in the store with champagne glasses we decided champagne was necessary to calm our nerves, and at the tip off from a friendly woman we were back to the first floor to get champagne. Once we got our champagne we headed back up to where Alexander Wang was on the third floor and got in line.  We finally got to talk to him and he was really nice, and meeting him was a great experience.  After meeting him, instead of leaving we headed back to the first floor to look around and take advantage of the free champagne and hors d’oeuvres. Upon leaving, Carina and I decided to walk around and take advantage of the beautiful day.  We stopped by Agent Provocateur and were treated with mimosas, meringues, and cupcakes, shopped around and then headed to Michigan Avenue.  After walking around Michigan we met back up with Sam for dinner at Fred’s in Barney’s.  They had a mahi mahi special that I ordered which was to die for, and the manager took care of Sam’s dessert and my chocolate martini since we’re regulars.  While at dinner, I got a call from our friend Lauren who was planning on crashing a wedding, and we decided to go with her. After dinner and changing we head down to the loop and met up with her and then headed over to a hotel.  The first hotel we went to had no weddings, but we crashed a high school reunion and had free beer and fruit.  The next stop was the Palmer House Hilton where Sam had found out there were 3 weddings.  After spying on each wedding we sat down in a lobby and Lauren went first into one of the weddings.  Upon her appearance with a drink, Carina and I headed in and the experience had to be one of the most awkward I have ever dealt with.  I made it out with a drink, but didn’t seem to go unnoticed.  We then tried one more and some woman in a cheap dress with bad hair ended that plan, and so we all headed home.  While the wedding crashing wasn’t a success it was an interesting experience, though I have definitely decided that my wedding crashing days are over. Sunday was pretty low key, and today I just went to school and got school stuff done.  I also got to register for classes and it is looking like next semester I’ll be having four day weekends!
