Mars Dynamo
Chicago’s electro-princess:

Ever changing, style shifting multi-talented Mars Dynamo, is a Chicago electronic music producer, singer-song writer with a playful sound, at times sultry, sometimes coarsely grinding, and other times lustful and romantic. Her dance beats are paired with unusual lyrics and chants, often with extraordinary theatrical costumes and stage performances.

Native born Chinese, Mars moved to the States at the age 10, started making electronic music in mid-summer 2008. Her first love was a childhood red toy piano which accompanied her throughout many travels with her parents… after winning several electronic piano competitions in Dalian, China at the age 7 without any formal training, her Mother decided she should try out for the Prodigy Piano Youth Group. However, during the audition, the master refused her as a student and deemed her untrainable due to her eccentricities and complete disregard for music theory and classical song structures.
After her mother’s disappointment, Mars’ interest in music laid dormant for the next 14 years until William Harper, a Digital Sound professor at the SAIC encouraged her to start experimenting with music compositions, in which she excelled in the class. Her interest started with opera and story telling sound pieces, which eventually developed into full songs.
Mid-summer, she decided to focus on producing dance music after being inspired by the blooming Chinese Youth culture in Beijing China. In February 2009, Mars was commissioned to start a book project called the Chi-Town Underground Sound, she takes on Chicago’s Party history documenting the movers and shakers of the underground music scene. Book release date is yet to be announced.
Mars was a key member of the board at the MYOUR HOUSE underground venue in Chicago, IL. The venue was a social arena for local and national artists, musicians, and creative types. Myour House was remembered as a place where all ethnicities, racial backgrounds, and gender came together under one roof in a Midwest city where there is an indisputable amount of ethnic divide. Weekly debaucherous parties with 400+ attendees and a constant fluctuation of new sounds and themes made the venue a notorious party stop for local dancing youths. Of course, every underground venue has its end, the Myour House is no longer in existence due to its countless noise violations.
Mars is to release her 14 song album Made On Mars this summer. An album inspired by her time spent in Chicago and at the Myour House. Months before her album release, she has performed at various venues such as the Funky Buddha Lounge, the Darkroom, the Glass Factory, and of course, the much celebrated Myour House.
A tour is in the works for Mars later 2010 through 2011, she will be working on two upcoming albums; 2 Hr Sessions w/Mars, a concept album working with various DJs and renowned composers, and a pure dance album with world chants and unusual rhythms that is currently untitled as of date.
